Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I BELIEVE MR. ROGERS WHEN HE SAYS, “ANYTHING THAT’S HUMAN IS MENTIONABLE, AND ANYTHING THAT’S MENTIONABLE CAN BE MORE MANAGEABLE.”
As a therapist, I aim to create and hold spaces where clients can feel secure sharing and exploring the concerns they have while supporting their development of skills for living a life guided by their own values and self-fulfillment needs. Tears? Laughs? Silence? Frustration? There's room for all of it and more when we're working together.
I am a queer, Korean-American child of an immigrant who pulls from CBT and DBT skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and humanistic approaches when working with clients to support the identification both of their strengths and opportunities for them to embrace challenge as a part of growth.
I work with adult clients who are looking for support with substance use and addiction concerns, life transitions, anxiety, depression, explorations of sex and sexuality, and men's issues.
In my spare time, I play games of all sorts (board, card, video, tabletop roleplaying games) with my partner and our friends. I also love to cook, watch movies (especially horror!), and find hidden little spots for adventure around the Greater Lansing Area.
Education: I earned my Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from Michigan State University. I previously also earned a Master's in Medieval Liteature at Penn State University and a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Michigan.
