Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST TO HELP PEOPLE RECOVER FROM UNPREDICTABLE LIFE MOMENTS.
I believe we have all been in vulnerable situations that have allowed some to successfully overcome. However, there are others who have not achieved that same resiliency to flourish. I am passionate about helping those individuals, children, teens, and families facing difficulties with life’s challenging times.
As a therapist, my goal is to help those who have been affected by trauma to heal from that painful past or injury. I specialize in trauma-informed care by helping others understand how trauma affects our lives and how everyone’s trauma looks different. My belief is that helping the younger generation on their journey today would empower them to thrive in tomorrow’s society. Helping individuals heal will empower them to help someone else through the gracious act of paying it forward.
With a trauma informed lens and a strength-based approach, I provide a warm and safe space where clients can be open and free to begin doing their work. This work is done by assisting with challenges such as stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, and family challenges. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Motivational Interviewing along with helping others adjust to difficult transitions. I use a variety of mindfulness and relaxation skills as well to assist.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children and family. At home, I am enjoy cooking new recipes or watching the latest comedy or drama series on Netflix. I love to travel and experience new places (one goal is to take a road trip from the Midwest to California and do a service project for the homeless population in Los Angeles).
Education: I received my Masters Degree in Social work (MSW) from Walden University and my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Ferris State University.
