Hey there,
I CHOSE TO BECOME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I BELIEVE THE DEEPEST HEALING COMES FROM HUMAN CONNECTION.
One of my favorite takes on our shared humanity comes from Ross Gay’s Inciting Joy: “What happens if joy is not separate from pain? What if joy and pain are fundamentally tangled up with one another? Or even more to the point, what if joy is not only entangled with pain, or suffering, or sorrow, but is also what emerges from how we care for each other through those things… as we help each other carry our heartbreaks?”
In our work together, I hope to help carry whatever you’re going through, and slowly uncover whatever joy might be waiting on the other side. We all struggle— we’re wired for it and the world isn’t always an easy place to be— but we’re also wired for healing and growth. Together, we can explore what works for you, practice in a safe and nonjudgmental space, and tuck those learnings away bit by bit to call on later in times of need.
My approach draws from a blend of talk therapy and body-based therapy, embracing the power of language and narrative as well as feeling at home in our bodies. Some of the ideas I pull from are trauma-informed care, mindfulness, somatics, polyvagal theory, internal family systems, and an anti-oppressive and non-pathologizing lens. More important than any modality, I hope to be a guide in helping you find and trust your own inner knowing.
Outside of therapy, I also work in food systems change as an educator and activist. When I’m not working, you can usually find me cooking, wandering town looking for hole-in-the-wall spots, making friends with local wildlife, and adventuring in the backyard with my partner, our two dogs, and two cats.
